TIME ALLOTMENT: 2 Days

DAY: I day

STANDARD/BENCHMARKS:.
• Explain conditions, actions and motivations that contribute to conflict and cooperation within and among nations.
* Give examples and explain how governments attempt to achieve their stated ideals at home and abroad

OBJECTIVES:
Student will be able to describe the causes of the war, who Samuel Adams is, how signals were used, battle plans, Washington, and Thomas Paine.
Students are to be aware of the progression of the Revolutionary war.
TEACHING MATERIALS:
The Revolutionary War Movie
LCD Projector
Whiteboard/ Markers
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
1. Have students take out Sheet of paper and write out these 8 questions (have these written on the white board):
a. What developments did the colonist create so they would not have to rely on Britain?
b. Who is and what did Samuel Adams do?
c. What did the lantern signal mean?
d. Why did Paul Revere say the “regulars” are Coming?
e. What were some of the battle plans at the Battle of Breeds hill?
f. How was Washington described personally and physically?
g. How was Thomas Paine different from other colonial leaders?
h. What was “Common Sense”? And what was its impact?
2. Start Movie the students are to answer the questions while they watch.
3. Tell students that if they do not pay attention to the movie, they will not get to watch the Patriot at the end of the unit.
4. Students are to hand in questions at the end of the class period.

ASSIGNMENT / EVALUATION:
Students: Student will be able to describe the causes of the war, who Samuel Adams is, how signals were used, battle plans, Washington, and Thomas Paine.
Students are to be aware of the progression of the Revolutionary war.


Teacher: Are the directions clear? How much time is this taking? Are the students just sitting there or are they watching the movie?
